Development & Foundation
The purpose of the Our Lady of Fatima School Development Department
is to meaningfully involve people in Fatima's mission and vision for the future
so that we can maintain existing programs and realize those which are needed.
A National Leader
The Development Department has played a major role in educational
advancement. Through the participation in the donor campaigns by parents,
grandparents, alumni, businesses, and community supporters, Fatima School
has realized goals of new equipment and programs. They include a renovated
building; new gym, library and cafeteria; new playgrounds with safe surfacing;
computers in every classroom; three computer labs, an abundance of classroom
materials and supplies, and added classrooms to reduce class size. We depend
greatly on the generosity of families to continue to be a school of excellence,
a leader in the community, and one of the top schools in the nation.
A Little Lagniappe Goes a Long Way
It is through the Little Lagniappe Campaign that specific classroom
items are funded. The major donor campaign funds large items such as technology,
playground and safe surfacing. Families who contribute $5,000 or more within
a fiscal year are members of the Platinum Society. Families who contribute
$1,000 are members of the Blue & Gold Club.
It is important that all families participate in some way. All gifts, no matter
the size, are greatly appreciated and necessary to enhance the educational
opportunities for each student. Community involvement is at the heart of all
Development activities.
Securing the Future - Keeping Tuition Manageable
The Foundation exists only to support the school financially. Its
endowed funds are professionally managed and invested, and the interest is
returned to the operating budget of the school every year to help defray the
cost of tuition. This is the only purpose for this money since the principle
of the endowed funds cannot be spent. The ultimate goal of the Foundation
is to fully endow the school. This would mean that the endowment would generate
enough interest every school year to completely cover the operating expenses
of the school. Through the generosity of others, the Foundation can reach
this goal. Gifts to the Foundation are received in the form of cash, securities
or deferred gifts which can include life insurance proceeds, bequests or charitable
remainders.
