From the Principal's Desk

For more than 50 years Our Lady of Fatima School has been enhancing the spiritual and educational growth of each child. From their eager beginnings at four years old, each child is nurtured and cherished. It is the teachings of Jesus that provides the pathway and lights the way to success.

Together, parents, teachers and administrators pave the way to their future, and work hard to create success. We know that you want the best for each of your children and at Fatima we strive to be the best. We are a long time leader in the educational arena. Our numerous accomplishments along with our standard of excellence have contributed greatly to us becoming a leader in education and the standard by which other schools are now measured.

We will continue to be inspired by our students and will provide them with the tools necessary for future successes. Most of all we will teach as Jesus did to instill in them the true goal of salvation and being a good person in this life.

A Spiritual Message from the Pastor

Welcome to Our Lady of Fatima! Named after the great apparition of Mary in a small Portuguese town in 1917, Our Lady of Fatima reminds us of our devotion to the Mother of God and most especially her Son, Jesus Christ.

In the year of Our Lord 2000, Pope John Paul II chose to reveal the third part of the so-called "secret of Fatima." All three are stunning, considering they were communicated prior to the events described. That Russia would be converted and that there would be an even greater war than the First World War did not enter anyone's mind before they actually happened. In some marvelous way they were communicated by Mary to the children of Fatima. The final "secret", concerning a bishop dressed in white who would be struck by a bullet, is additionally remarkable in and of itself, considering the assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II on May 13, 1980. What does all of this mean?

In a Vatican document entitled "The Message of Fatima", Cardinal Ratzinger reminds us that the essential message of Fatima is "the exhortation to prayer as the path of "salvation for souls" and, likewise, the summons to penance and conversion." The marvelous "secrets", like apocalyptic signs, underline the importance of this message. Signs always point to essentials.

Here at Our Lady of Fatima Parish and School we take the message of Fatima very seriously. We strive to teach our children love for God through His Son Jesus Christ, within the context of our Catholic Church's tradition and teaching. Jesus wanted the little children to come to Him, as the Gospels remind us. His message is a gentle one, and prayer and on-going conversion instill in all of us an abiding sense of God's loving presence in our lives.

"The Message of Fatima" by Cardinal Ratzinger concludes with these words:

"Since God himself took a human heart and has thus steered human freedom towards what is good, the freedom to choose evil no longer has the last word. From that time forth, the word that prevails is this:

"In the world you will have tribulation, but take heart; I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).
The message of Fatima invites us to trust in this promise."
