OUR LADY OF FATIMA SCHOOL ATHLETIC PROGRAM

2017-2018

Our Lady of Fatima School has a tradition of excellence in its interscholastic and athletic program. Our program strives to build self-esteem and Christian sportsmanship through the challenges of competitive sports.

The following areas are part of Fatima's Athletic Program:

BASKETBALL: Teams are fielded in grades 6th through 8th for boys & girls. The practice season begins in early November. Games begin in December and run through early February. The coaches are trained, non-faculty community members. Every team competes in 2-3 tournaments during the season, usually held on Fridays and Saturdays. Our teams compete in the Catholic School Basketball League. Due to the number of players interested in participating, team selections are made.

VOLLEYBALL: Volleyball is offered to girls in the 6th, 7th & 8th grades. The season starts in August and runs through the month of October. Our volleyball teams compete in the Catholic School Volleyball League with other Catholic schools in the Acadiana area. Our teams also compete in several weekend tournaments throughout the season. Team selections may be made at certain grade levels.

TRACK AND FIELD: Track teams are fielded in grades 5th through 8th with boys & girls competing within their age groups. The track season starts in early February and concludes near the end of April or early May. Our 5th & 6th grade team and our 7th & 8th grade team compete in the Catholic School Track League with 8 other Catholic or private schools. Track Team members in 6th-8th grade also compete in area school-sponsored meets. The 5th/6th and 7th/ 8th graders’ season culminates with the All-Catholic Track Meets.

CROSS COUNTRY TRACK: A program is offered for both boys & girls in 5th through 8th grade. Practices are held 2 to 3 times a week at Fatima or St. Thomas More High School. The season begins in early September and ends in November. Team members compete in school sponsored cross country meets, area road races, and the Catholic School Track League.
