CHANGE IN SKIRT LENGTH POLICY FOR THE 2018/19 ACADEMIC YEAR
Monitoring skirt lengths is often a tedious task for schools. The present skirt length requirement makes it even more difficult, and the requirement is too often ignored.
Our Lady of Fatima School will join St. Thomas More Catholic High School and the feeder schools of Lafayette (Cathedral and St. Pius) in implementing a new policy for student skirt length for the 2018/19 academic year. The new regulation will be as follows: Touching the top of the knee cap with skirt tapering longer towards the back (if needed) in order to keep the hemline level while worn.
This new skirt length requirement supports Christian virtue and modesty, makes the uniform policy much easier to monitor, and shows unity and a cooperative spirit with other schools. Fatima -- along with STM, Cathedral, and St. Pius -- is jointly making this announcement now to allow our school families enough time to prepare for this change. Uniform companies have also been informed. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
