Vision
Students at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School are asked to think about topics in different ways. They are asked to question and use the Scientific Method to find answers to real-world questions. The students visit the X-STREAM Lab on a bi-weekly basis to solve a real-world problem in the lab. In the X-STREAM Lab students are immersed in Science, Religion, Engineering, Art, and Math skils. Projects are self-guided and supervised by our Technology Teacher. Students are able to build social skills while solving the problem and learn more about the world. Students in the X-STREAM Lab will develop skills for the future they will be a major part of. The X-STREAM Lab allows all students to accelerate at their own pace and what they are good at. We allow children the freedom to explore and the discipline to experiment in a safe environment.
Materials
Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School's X-STREAM Lab encompasses the whole student. In the X-STREAM lab, we encourage collaborative and self-guided learning through the use of various materials. The X-STREAM Lab houses Dash & Dot robots as well as Spheros. The students code and program the robots using iPads, iPad Minis, iMacs, and various Coding Software programs. The X-STREAM Lab also acquired a 3D Printer in 2016. Students create their own designs and can print them during the school day. Students are also using logic games such as Rush Hour, Balancing Beans, and Roller Coaster Creator to encourage engineering and physics in the younger grades.
